Today, let’s meet Florian, one of our best guide in south of France! He is a passionate guide who will introduce you to “la vie du sud” in a fun way, driving a 2CV (typical vintage French car)!
Florian speaks French, German and English. With his “two-horses” ( “deux chevaux” 2CV) he takes you everywhere from the Cévennes mountain range to the Camargue delta, from the scenic gorges of the Ardèche to the Rhône Valley. Florian is a lecture guide and you will enjoy discovering natural and historical sites, tasting local produce, and admiring the work of artisans in authentic old villages.
I have been living in the beautiful region of Uzès for over 25 years. Before I lived in Paris, Strasbourg, but also in Germany, Switzerland and Morocco… I was born in Casablanca. I started as a guide, 10 years ago. In 2015 I decided to restore my old 2CV which was sleeping in a garden. As it was no longer too salvageable, I bought “Bamboo”, the little name of my green car.
This is a hard time for our region which receives a lot of international tourists. I work 80% of my time with foreigners. I was lucky, thanks to the Europeans, who were able to travel; only that represents barely 10% of my usual work.
Of course, I protect myself and my clients with a mask in the car, just like outside. I put hydroalcoholic gel at disposal and anyway (already before the Covid) I changed my seat covers after each client. My car is also disinfected after each client. But you know, thanks to the open sunroof, life is better in 2CV and we had air even in the small car.
It’s very difficult to tell you, which is my favorite, but I still have a penchant for the extraordinary Pont du Gard with all its history, from the spring to Nimes.
But I also like all the excursions where we had a mix between the history of the country, the producers and craftsmen; where I can introduce you to the women and men who have shaped this magnificent country.
It is certain that most tourists know the Luberon, Avignon or Marseille … to name but few are familiar with the Gard region. This region has an incomparable richness, between the Cevennes and the Mediterranean Sea: magnificent gorges of the “Gardon” and the “Cèze”, Roman and/or Medieval cities, the Camargue, villages perched with character. Its know-how and “savoir-vivre” under the shade of a large tree.
Smiling and listening to the desires of my guest. Anecdotes are as important as the history of my country.
I like good regional dishes: seafood and fresh fish. La “Gardianne”, a traditional dish of the Camargue. Seasonal fruits and vegetables, without forgetting goat and sheep cheeses.
I like to say that each tour is a new adventure, with different clients. I remember this year a German couple who enjoyed the first tour so much that they asked me for 2 more for their vacation. You know, I like tours with a visit to a village with its market, a picnic by a small river and the exchange of beautiful things.
I am thinking of a tour: Discovery of the Camargue fauna, flora, and tradition with my 2CV.
