Take a private tour of the 5 most beautiful beaches in France to visit this summer, whether you prefer to be washed by the waves of the Atlantic, encircled in a pretty turquoise creek in the Mediterranean or sunbathe on a rocky point with a breathtaking view. Of course there is so much more incredible beaches to discover in France, but it is impossible to list them all! Let’s focus on our 2021 top 5 of the most beautiful French beached to relax.
With its high cliffs and crystal-clear water, the Calanque d’En-Vau is the largest in the national park. At the bottom is a pebble beach. It is accessed by the departmental 559 which goes from Marseille to Cassis. In front of the military camp, take the road that passes through the Gardiole forest and continue to the high parking lot. The path descends, the hill remains at the same level, which means that we sink into a sort of parade which at the last bend opens onto the sea. The reward is considerable. The views offered from the Belvédère d’En-vau (requires a detour) and the ridges on the Cassis side are simply splendid.
Notre Dame Beach was elected in 2015 “most beautiful beach in Europe” by the European organization for the promotion of culture and tourism in Europe (European best destination). Oriented North-East, its fine sand and the translucent color of its water, make it an emblematic site of the island. Sheltered from the mistral in its western part and from the east wind in its eastern part, it is bordered by pine forests and oak groves, a wooded bay in a setting of blue…
Palombaggia Beach is Corsica’s most famous beach and has rightly been voted one of the 10 best beaches in Europe. This popular beach is inevitably exceptionally busy in high season. Given its popularity, it pays to arrive early in the morning and reserve a seat. Flanked by umbrella-shaped mountains and pine trees, Palombaggia Beach is a stunning 2 km stretch of golden sand and shallow crystal-blue waters. The pink granite headlands that surround the beach add to the rich variety of colors of this charming beach. Palombaggia beach is a protected natural site and is cleaned regularly. In addition, the beach faces the magnificent archipelago of the Cerbicale Islands (pretty little uninhabited islands).
The Corniche Beach in Pyla-sur-Mer is located at the foot of the Dune du Pilat, across from the Banc d’Arguin a the entrance of the Bassin d’Arcachon. In our opinion, it is the most original beach in the region, and the most beautiful in Pyla sur Mer. Note that it’s possible to climb the Dune du Pilat from this beach which allows you to avoid paying for parking at the Dune de Pyla (however, there is not a nice staircase!).
The Grands Sables beach is located between Pointe du Spernec and Pointe de la Croix on the beautiful island of Groix (Brittany). Sublime and immense beach, it is the only convex beach in Europe. But this is not its only peculiarity with its sand which combines all the nuances of garnet to white. Whatever the location, it keeps to the same characteristics: large volume of sand very pleasant to the contact and splendid view of the blue background. It is one of the only three supervised beaches of the island and it has a “Point Passion Plage” with mainly sailing activities, sanitary facilities etc. Rare things about local beaches. And then the grandeur of the beach shelters you from all exiguity. Beach that deserves its reputation.
