You will find the 10 must-do experiences in the city center of Nice, on the French Riviera. If you spend your next vacation in Nice, you won’t be bored!
First of all, you can visit the small streets of the Old Nice, which is reminiscent of the beautiful Italian cities… Or the Promenade des Anglais, the Port and the many museums of the city.
In this post, you will find the ideal spot to watch the sunset in Nice, but also my good addresses to discover the Nice gastronomy with good restaurants, and my favorite hotel.
It’s nice to get lost in the small streets of Old Nice, and discover the city in an authentic way. Stroll in the center, not far from the Opera!
Discover the small squares and the numerous religious buildings (chapel of the Misericorde, Jesuit churches…).
Don’t forget to visit the Cours Saleya, with its famous market and its beautiful colors.
It’s really the must-see when you come to Nice on vacation. Several kilometers long, the Promenade des Anglais has made the reputation of the city for many years, in France and among foreign tourist.
A long promenade which is very pleasant to walk, run, rollerblade… With the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and the pebble beaches on one side, and the beautiful buildings of Nice on the other, like the famous Negresco Hotel.
This is one of my favorite places in Nice. Why is it so? Simply because you can see, from the Colline du Château (Castle Hill), an incredible sunset, with the view on the sea, the Promenade des Anglais, the city and in the background the different mountain ranges… A marvel.
But this view is just as beautiful during the day if you don’t have the opportunity to go there for the sunset. Moreover, the park of the Colline du Château is very nice, with also a superb waterfall or other sublime viewpoints on the Port of Nice.
While the Promenade des Anglais is often a must-see in Nice, the port is often a little neglected. However, it is very pleasant, with very few tourists.
Besides, you will find a suggestion of restaurant near the port, in all tranquillity. A nice walk, even if once there the activities to do are quite limited.

The city of Nice has many museums. After Paris, it is even one of the cities where you can find the most places dedicated to culture in France. The choice is therefore vast.
Interesting for art lovers and a very pleasant activity if you wonder what to do in Nice when it rains. Thus, I could visit the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Otherwise, in Nice, you will have other options in terms of museums and exhibitions. These include the Marc Chagall National Museum, the Matisse Museum, the National Sports Museum, and the Villa Arson, which houses a contemporary art center and an art school.
How can we not mention the famous gastronomy of Nice? Yes, between Italian and Provencal influences, Nice’s cuisine is not lacking in flavors!
To start with, you can taste the famous socca, a kind of pancake made of chickpea flour. There are many places to try it, such as René Socca, Chez Pipo…
For ice cream, go to the famous Fenocchio ice cream shop, and institution in Nice, which offers a multitude of good flavors.
In the heart of Nice, the Promenade du Paillon is a small haven of peace. This green corridor is very pleasant to stroll in the city center.
If I were to suggest a short itinerary, I would advise you to start from the famous Place Massena with its checkerboard floor, its red buildings and its numerous stores. Then, enter the park and have fun with the famous water mirror a few meters further!
Then, the promenade du paillon is great with its plants, its water fountains and its many games for children. At the end, you arrive on the side of the city’s theater.
Once here, take a look at the Place Garibaldi with its yellow buildings, on the edge of Vieux-Nice.
Personally, I was blown away by the Saint-Nicolas Cathedral in Nice. It is located a little away from the Old Nice and it is therefore with astonishment that we discover it in the middle of residences and various houses.
Classified as a historical monument, the Russian Orthodox cathedral is of remarkable beauty. Outside Russia, it is indeed rare to see such a monument… The entrance can be done freely (except during the ceremonies). Guided tours are also available (10€ for adults and free for children under 14).
Finally, to end your vacation in Nice in style, there’s nothing better than going for a drink facing the sea! You can choose to sit on one of the private beaches (Beau Rivage, Le Ruhl Plage…), or in one of the rooftops.
My favorite restaurant is Di Più. It’s in front of the Promenade des Anglais.
The Di Più honors a cuisine with Italian influences! On the menu, delicious pizzas and generous dishes… On two levels, the restaurant welcomes you in a modern and friendly decor.
A hotel that is well located in the city center of Nice is the Hotel Aston la Scala. It’s right next to the Place Massena and the pedestrian area with its many restaurants and stores.
Do you like the sea? It is very well because the hotel is located at 5 minutes of the beach.
