| A few kilometers from the Mediterranean sea, in the Aude department to be exact, the African Reserve of Sigean opens its vast plains straight from the bush.
In this reserve you will find yourself face to face with a zebra, an ostrich or a Tibetan bear. This visit can be done by car if it makes you feel safer. The surprise is total, the change of scenery guaranteed.
The reserve has lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, zebras, impalas, wildebeests but also emus, macaws, pythons, boas, alligators… that is to say 160 species representing more than 3500 animals on 300 hectares. Nestled in the heart of a pine forest, the zoo has a much-appreciated landscaping. There, more than 110 species grouped in 6 categories, birds, primates, carnivores, ungulates, marine mammals and reptiles are gathered, which represents more than 1600 animals. It is also a dream setting, with different atmospheres in one single place (savannah, tropical forest, Malagasy impressions…) Among the most impressive and perhaps the most endearing, you will find gorillas and polar bears. You can admire them on land as well as underwater thanks to large submerged windows. Reproducing natural habitats is a priority. We advise you not to miss the shows, especially the sea lion show.
