Trip My France’s Founder Franck Pothé established the company (then known as Objectif France) after an early career in outbound tourism. He has many projects and pastimes on-the-go at any one time and sits comfortably with the entrepreneur mindset. This article explains a little more about Franck, the establishment of the company, his views on the challenging year we have just faced in the industry, and a couple of must-sees.
As far as I can remember, traveling has been the common thread of my life. It started with reading books about exploring the world during my childhood, then very quickly going to travel by myself (hitchhiking across Africa and crossing the Andes with a paraglider).
From there, my professional life has been organized around tourism and travel. I have guided trekking tours in 80 countries around the world for 15 years. To be honest, I was satisfied after all of those trips, so I now get the pleasure from making foreign travelers discover France.
To be an entrepreneur is to choose to be the captain of your own boat. This involves defining a project, building it and developing it. It is surrounding yourself with the talents of a crew to take the company as far as possible. It’s also about taking risks and living without a safety net.
Trip My France was born after having created and developed for 12 years another travel agency which made French travelers travel all over the world. It was an outbound agency. Trip My France, aims to help travelers from all over the world discover France and Europe. After nearly ten years, it has welcomed travelers from over 60 countries around the world. It is satisfying to have worked with so many different countries, both in outbound and inbound.
2020 has been a Tsunami and we have had to postpone almost all of our scheduled trips to 2021. We have used this period to prepare for the recovery from COVID. I think that once this health crisis is over, people will certainly want to travel again, to break away from their daily lives and forget this year 2020.
We try to publish as many posts as we can to update you on the latest travel news regarding France and Western Europe.
As Trip My France’s Founder, quite frankly, I don’t think travel will change fundamentally. It goes without saying that travelers will be more sensitive to health issues. And reciprocally, the various actors in the travel industry (hotels, guides, drivers etc) in France will set up health and safety devices to reassure travelers.
I am fortunate to live in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards near Lyon. Every spring, I like to eat with my family on the terrace at the Château de Bagnols, a magnificent 1000-year-old 5star château-hotel, surrounded by sumptuous gardens.
I like to convince our travelers to include the Alps (especially around Mont Blanc) in their journey to France and Switzerland. The landscapes are grandiose, the local mountain population are very friendly and there are so many sports and cultural activities for all types of travelers. I used to live there, and was never bored. Here is a great trip that takes in this beautiful region: Our 100% Customizable – Paris, Lyon and the French Alps.
To get to know a place well, I like to be accompanied by a local guide who will help me discover its territory, local culture and secret places in depth. I love these local ambassadors who pass on their knowledge and their passion.
We hope this insight on Trip My France’s Founder Franck Pothé shows you how professional and passionate our team is.
