As you know, Paris is not considered as a “sun-guaranteed” destination, neither France itself! That’s why we selected some delightful experiences to enjoy Paris on a rainy day!
Make your choice between the tones of Cafés of the Capital. Seat at the window, read the daily-journal and watch the city waking up. On your table: warm and crispy croissant, soft-boiled egg, salted butter tartine, and not to forget: fresh pressed orange juice. Bon appétit!
From Montmartre to the 2nd arr., step back into the 19th century and Belle Époque Paris trough the Covered Passages. Stunning mosaic floors, glass roofs and traditional shops signs are a typical Parisian architecture. Almost 20 covered passages are hidden in Paris, each one has its own character. Our favorites: Passage des Panoramas is the oldest dating from 1799 and home to Theatre des Variétés, Passage Verdeau is the GQ of antique dealers, Passage Brady known as the Little India houses a lot of exotic shops and restaurants, and Galerie Vivienne located near the Palais Royal is the most iconic.
Shopping in Paris can be fun, you just need to do it right. The Galeries Lafayette Haussmann worth a visit for its breathtaking Art Deco dome, apart from that, you will find it packed with tourists. Instead, the new shopping mall La Samaritaine will offer you a luxury experience especially if you go there in at the opening in the morning. Meanwhile, Foodies will love the Grande Epicerie located next to the Bon Marché, the city’s biggest gourmet food shop of the Capital, on the Left Bank.
Moreover, Champs Elysées is obviously the most famous shopping street in Paris but trust me, there are much nicer and less crowded places to find highest quality brands. Instead Avenue Montaigne and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré really worth a stroll. These are the fanciest streets with incredible architecture, high-end designers and luxury brands such as Louboutin, Prada, Hermès, Louis Vuitton. Don’t forget your umbrella!
What’s best than a gourmet cozy break with your loved ones? Unwind over a hot chocolate and pastries to die for in a beautiful Parisian Palace or a typical tea room. Afternoon tea or “goûter” in French, is so comforting during rainy days. French hot chocolate is pure gem: rich, milky and sometimes topped with sweet whipped cream, we call it “Chocolat Viennois”. Our best spot for hot chocolate is definitely Angelina’s. If you are more into tea, Mariage Frères offers a delicate selection of intensely flavored tea and fine pastries. . For Fairy Tales lovers, take a look at Le Loir Dans La Théière inspired by the dormhouse of Alice in the Wonderland, you will find there a wide selection of homemade rustic tarts and cakes. Last but not the least, if you want a luxury experience, head up to the Ritz Palace with its typical “Thé à la Française”, the French version of the afternoon tea.
Opéra Garnier is without doubt the most dazzling architectural masterpiece in Paris. Enter an elegant world, and feel this unique harmony between the sculpture, architecture, painting. Don’t miss the 220m² giant painting by Marc Chagall on the ceiling on the theatre! If you are lucky, you will find some tickets left for an evening Ballet Show!
Review your French Classics before coming to Paris, we want to hear you sing La Vie en Rose, Aux Champs Elysées or La Bohème on the Pont des Amours!
