I had the pleasure of traveling with my family on an 9-day tour from Paris to the French Riviera. Between sea and mountains, this circuit delighted my thirst for nature and discovery. Lovers of sunbathing, you can enjoy the Mediterranean climate, as well as artists in the soul. Beyond its beaches and its glamorous reputation, I was able to discover that the French Riviera conceals many charming landscapes. I was also able to appreciate the ancestral perched villages of its hinterland, as well as those of the sweet Provence. 😍
On the first day, we arrived in Paris, the city of light that abounds in attractions. I was able to visit the Louvre Museum for the first time! I am an art lover, and honestly I found the visit incredible! I was able to look closely at the painting of the Mona Lisa, and it’s true, you really feel like she’s looking you right in the eye!
After this memorable visit, we went for a walk in the Jardin des Tuileries which is just sublime. We also went shopping at the Champs-Elysées! Finally, we went to see the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower, a must see of course!
After our wonderful day in Paris, we start our journey towards Beaune where we stop in Auxerre to visit the Abbaye Saint-germain. It is a real jewel! I advise you not to miss the chapter house and the cloister. A model of Gothic elegance, we visited the Cathedral of Saint-Etienne which has portals with remarkable bas-reliefs. To finish this day, we went to discover the Hospices de Beaune, whose Burgundian architecture amazed us.
For this third day, we drove all along the Saône river where we noticed prestigious vineyards. Our first stop was in Tournus to visit the Abbaye Saint-Philibert. Then, we headed to the city of Lyon to discover the ancient capital of silk and the effervescence of its nightlife. It was great, I have very good memories of it!
We took the road to Chambéry, a pretty little town with a remarkable old quarter and the Alps nearby, the atmosphere here is relaxing. Some monuments are rather unusual, including the famous Elephant Fountain. To finish this day, we continued our direction towards Grenoble.
We passed through Gap, a town nestled in the mountains, we took part of the Route de Napoléon, the itinerary followed by the Emperor on his return from Elba, to Digne-les-Bains, capital of lavender and spa town. To complete this day, we continued our journey to Nice.
For this 6th day, me and my family dedicated this day to the discovery of Nice. We could discover the flower market and the port. From the Castle Hill, we could admire the panorama of the city.
For this 7th day, we went to discover the back country. We started our day by visiting one of the famous perfume factories in Grasse. Then, we went to Gourdon, a perched village offering a breathtaking view of the Grasse area. We took the small steep roads that lead to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, which, sheltered by its ramparts, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in the Mediterranean.
I decided to go to Eze, a small village overlooking the sea in an idyllic setting. Then I went to Monaco to visit the Oceanographic museum, it was amazing, I loved it so much!
For this last day, with my family, we drove along the coast to Le Lavandou, passing through sunny towns such as Hyères and Toulon, before reaching Aix-en-Provence. A city of water with its thermal baths, Aix-en-Provence is also adorned with numerous fountains in its public squares. The townhouses are remarkable.
